YANG Wants You to Get Involved!

by Matt Fowler

It’s been a wild Q3, filled with meet-ups, YANG Professional Series and the induction of our new council members! With all this action, it can be hard to keep up with why YANG exists. We thought it might be good to take the time to remind our members why we are here.

We are here so that young professionals in the automotive industry have a place to meet with their peers and develop lifelong relationships both professionally and personally. To facilitate those relationships YANG strives to have as many meetups across the country as possible. In just the last two weeks we’ve held three separate meetups in Grand Rapids, Mich., Raleigh, N.C., and Midland, Mich. At these events, our gracious sponsors typically provide drinks and snacks to help facilitate the networking in addition to some fun locations! Did anyone see Jay hit that ball directly into the rain wall?! Hosting a regional meet-up is something that any YANG member can do. The YANG Council is here to help facilitate making it happen, so reach out!

Our largest event of the year took place at the largest event in the industry, AAPEX. We hosted a giant meetup where we all got to see each other face-to-face from around the country with help from our sponsors.

While our events are fun, they are designed to help connect people and thus let everyone grow. Which is the second part of YANG’s mission: to help develop the future leaders of the auto industry. The best way we can do this is through our YANG Professional Series (YPS). On these quick, 45-minute calls, we interview a successful member of the aftermarket and ask for their advice covering everything from technology to how to go through company acquisition. These Zoom meetings are another great way to grow professionally along with your peers in the industry.

This is possible because of the gracious sponsors and volunteers we have on our team. If you’d like to get more involved or have any questions, please reach out to any of our council members and be sure to follow us on LinkedIn to stay up-to-date with all the current events and news.
