Act 170 Is Law in Wisconsin: Battery Producers Face a January 2027 Deadline
Wisconsin has enacted a mandatory battery collection and recycling law that takes effect January 1, 2027. Under 2025 Act 170, companies that manufacture, brand, or import covered batteries sold in Wisconsin must join a state-approved battery stewardship organization and fund a statewide collection and recycling program. Compliance timelines are tight, and preparation needs to start now.
