How did you get your start at the Auto Care Association?
I was one of those scenarios where I was in the right place at the right time. I’ve worked in the aftermarket for a decent number of years (over 20) and was finally ready to move on to the next chapter in my career. In casual conversation with Jonathan Larsen about this topic, he proposed the idea of working for the Auto Care Association. I had honestly never considered the idea, and I found it immediately interesting. One thing led to the other, and now, here I am.What are your work duties at the association?
My focus is working to institute more robust connectivity between our internal systems. This will allow us to better support and serve the community with new and existing products. In which department do you work? What are the key responsibilities of the department?
I work in the Technology department, which is most popularly known for its responsibility to the industry standard databases that support ACES and PIES. We also have a wide variety of other increasingly popular digital products like TrendLens and Demand Index, and the newest release – Catalog Assessment Tool for ACES and PIES. We also have a significant role in our eLearning courses, in which we have also recently released a new course “Intermediate ACES and PIES.
Where did you go to college? What did you study?
I started my college education at Jackson College, in their automotive service program. I later moved into the Washtenaw College automotive program, from which I graduated.  Where else have you worked (what jobs/positions/locations)?
Dana Corporation as a Sr. Product Planner from 2000-2007 in Ann Arbor, MI. Federal-Mogul as Product Manager, Catalog Manager from 2007-2019 in Southfield, MI. First Brands Group as Content Director from 2019-2023 in Rochester Hills, MI.
Where did you grow up and what are some interesting details about your life before working at the association?
I grew up in a small town (Napoleon), in south-central Michigan. Before joining the Association, I’ve held various positions with some of the biggest names in the aftermarket, having responsibilities in product management, catalog and data management for over 20 years.  What is your favorite part about working at the association? What are the biggest rewards?
My favorite part about working at the association, and the biggest reward, both come down to one thing - helping people. I am extremely grateful to be in a position to help so many different types of people, be it - long-time members of the association, or new members What unique qualities do you feel you bring to the Auto Care Association?
I think one of my unique qualities is the ability to facilitate technical conversations between different parties with varying levels of technical comprehension. I understand what the low-tech guys want, and I know what the high-tech guys are saying. I feel like a foreign language translator sometimes, I really enjoy bringing clarity to these scenarios, and helping people connect.
What are your long-range professional goals for both you and the Auto Care Association?
My mission statement within the Auto Care Association is to help Innovate. I want to help deliver new technology and products that will serve a wider portion of the aftermarket in a more robust way, removing complications and facilitating technological longevity..
What do you feel are the biggest rewards of working in the auto care industry?
Meeting and building relationships with people in the aftermarket. And again - helping people. Tell us about your life outside of work (family, hobbies, home, etc.).
I’ve been married for 22 years, we have 5 amazing children (3 boys, 2 girls), ranging in age between 1 year and 16 years old. We live in Jackson Michigan, near where I grew up. I love to mountain bike as much as possible as weather allows. I enjoy music, movies, cars, technology, and I love the automotive aftermarket! Tell us a few fun facts about you that would surprise people (special skills, awards, accomplishments, etc.).

I could run a 7-minute mile in the early 2000’s. Chris Farley was my hero, I wanted to be an actor, and did some acting in college. I was homecoming king in my senior year of high school.
