Vehicle Configuration Database (VCdb) Coverage Update

Who wants to sell more parts?

Foolish question, I know, but worth asking—and in multiple ways! The standards team here at the Auto Care Association has never been a team to sit on past accomplishments. We prefer to “hit the gas pedal” and deliver content faster than ever before! While it’s only been six months since our last update, we have a lot of good news and in multiple areas, so let’s see how we can sell more parts!

Who wants to sell more parts on the new vehicles as they roll off the showroom floor?

A few years ago, the VCdb lagged behind in providing coverage for brand new vehicles and there were times when the aftermarket lost sales to the vehicle manufacturers due to not being able to cover those vehicles rolling out of the showrooms. Stage 1 (Year, Make, Model, Submodel and Region) vehicles were not listed in time for accessory sales and Stage 2 (Year, Make, Model, Submodel, Region and Engine) vehicles were not listed in time for maintenance services like oil and air filter changes.

That is no longer the reality we live in! Vehicles are being added to the VCdb before they are available in the showrooms and their attributes are available before that new car needs its first oil change!

2026 model year vehicles (and we are not even halfway into calendar year 2025)

  • There are more than one third of the expected 2026 model year vehicles for the United States already in the VCdb
  • Over 80% of those added are already at Stage 4 (Year, Make, Model, Submodel, Region and all available attributes including their engines)

2025 model year vehicles

  • We are at almost 100% of all the expected 2025 model year vehicles for the United States and Canada with only 7 more vehicles that MAY be added by the vehicle manufacturers for 2025
  • Almost 100% of those added are at Stage 4 with only 1 Stage 1 vehicle remaining (2025 Dodge Charger SIXPACK)

Who wants to sell more parts in LATAM countries?

How about coverage expanded into new countries?

Six months ago, we reported the addition of six new LATAM countries being added to the VCdb. Well, since then, we have added vehicles for nine more LATAM countries (bringing our total of LATAM countries to 26)

  • Countries added include: the Bahamas, Barbados, Belize, French Guiana, Guyana, Jamaica, Puerto Rico, Suriname, and Trinidad and Tobago.

How about expanded coverage in existing countries?

We are pleased to report that we now cover over 91% of the total VIO (Vehicles In Operation) for vehicles in Central and South America!

We have increased our VIO coverage in Brazil to over 97% of the vehicles in that country!

We have expanded our Powersports coverage by adding them to new countries and expanding model year coverage in existing counties for the LATAM region

  • New countries for Powersports vehicles include: Ecuador and Peru
  • Expanded model year coverage for Powersports vehicles include: Argentina, Brazil and Chile
