BETHESDA, Md. – September 17, 2020 – The Auto Care Association hosted a technology data standards webinar for the Mexican automotive aftermarket on Sept. 9 in collaboration with ARIDRA, the Association of Representatives, Importers and Distributors of Spare Parts and Accessories for Automobiles of Mexico.

The webinar was attended by top local auto care industry executives and focused on the Auto Care Association’s technology data standards, ACES (Aftermarket Catalog Exchange Standard) and PIES (Product Information Exchange Standard), the application and benefits of the standards, and the Auto Care Vehicle Information Portal (VIP).

“The Auto Care Association is the highest authority on data standards for the automotive aftermarket,” said Antonio López Díaz, president, ARIDRA. “We must think that this issue is not the future of the industry but the present and that it is here to stay. As main players in the Mexican automotive aftermarket we must be aware that standards are a necessity. We all need to speak the same language. This issue is extremely important and that is why we emphasize it today.”

The Aftermarket Catalog Exchange Standard (ACES) is the aftermarket industry data standard for the management and communication of product fitment data for light, medium and heavy-duty vehicles, powersports, and off-highway and equipment. The Product Information Exchange Standard (PIES) is the aftermarket industry data standard for the management and communication of product information and attributes. By utilizing ACES and PIES, as well as best practices, it allows for companies to be more efficient in communicating information for their products that is critical to do business.

“ACES and PIES are critical to the future of the North American supply chain and we are thrilled to be working with ARIDRA to make sure our partners in the Mexico region can take full advantage of these tools,” said Taylor Mitchell, senior vice president, technology and standards, Auto Care Association.
