What can I expect at the Legislative Summit?

The Summit takes place over two days and consists of issue briefings, guest speakers, networking opportunities and in-person meetings with members of Congress and legislative staff. In addition to getting up to speed on the industry’s most pressing issues, attendees will learn how to navigate Capitol Hill and effectively engage with elected officials.

Attendees are grouped by state and attend anywhere from three to six meetings with congressional offices over the course of a day.

Your time in Washington will be brief but your participation will go a long way toward achieving our industry’s legislative goals.


How do I register for the Summit?

You can register online or submit a completed copy of the PDF registration form. Visit www.autocare.org/summit for the latest registration information.

 

Is there a fee to participate?

There is a $295 fee for individuals employed by Auto Care Association member companies. This fee goes toward meals, receptions, speakers and all meeting materials for the event. It does not include hotel/travel. The fee is waived for all Auto Care Association Volunteer Leaders (i.e., active members of association committees and community boards).

 

What if I want to attend Fall Leadership Days as well?

This is the first time that the Legislative Summit will take place in conjunction with the Auto Care Association’s Leadership Days meeting—a biannual conference featuring industry education and committee meetings. Volunteer Leaders will already be in town, but guests attending the Summit are welcome to extend their stay and participate in Fall Leadership Days at no additional cost. How do I book my hotel room?

The Auto Care Association has secured a group rate at the Hyatt Regency Washington on Capitol Hill, a short walk from the U.S. Capitol and congressional office buildings. Attendees coming in from out of town should plan to book Wednesday, Sept. 18, but if you are traveling a far distance or planning to extend your stay, Tuesday, Sept. 17 and Thursday, Sept. 19 are available to you as well.

Who schedules my congressional meetings?

Auto Care staff will handle the entire scheduling process. Legislators and their staff typically want to meet with constituents—your home or business must reside in the district or state in order for a meeting to receive approval. However, if you have a personal relationship with a particular legislator or your company has multiple facilities across the country, let us know and we can adjust your target list.

 

What is the cancellation policy?

Please call the Auto Care Association Meetings & Events team at (301) 654-6664 should you need to modify or cancel your registration. Full refunds will be processed for cancellations received up to 30 days before the conference start date. Cancellations received after 30 days will receive a 50 percent refund. No refunds will be processed for cancellations received 14 days before the conference

 

Any travel recommendations?

For those leaving D.C. on the evening of Thursday, Sept. 19, please ensure your departure time is no earlier than 6:30 p.m., as meetings on Capitol Hill can go as late as 4:30 p.m.

Attendees are strongly encouraged to fly into Ronald Reagan National Airport (DCA), which is a short cab/subway ride from downtown. The other two airports, Dulles and BWI, are each located 25+ miles outside the city and can be a nightmare to get to and from, especially during rush hour. For those able to travel by train, Union Station is walking distance from both the hotel and Capitol Hill.
