Gabrielle Hopkins is vice president of federal affairs for the Auto Care Association.

Hopkins has been with the Auto Care Association since 2018. In her current role, she manages the association’s team of lobbyists and advocacy staff and is tasked with developing and executing a federal government affairs program that strategically utilizes lobbying, grassroots, and PAC to achieve policy outcomes that benefit the $383 billion automotive aftermarket industry. As a part of that objective, she is working to build a culture of advocacy that reflects the magnitude of the industry. With more than 500,000 businesses in the domestic aftermarket supply chain, and over 4 million employees nationwide, she aims to increase the volume of the industry’s voice on Capitol Hill.

Prior to her work with the Auto Care Association, she was the Deputy Director for Governmental Affairs at the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA).  There, she was the senior career government affairs manager who served as an agency liaison to Congressional staff, commercial motor vehicle trade associations, and interest groups.  She received an award from the Office of the Secretary for her work overseeing the agency’s implementation of the Fixing America’s Surface Transportation Act (FAST Act) and a second award for her efforts on the Department of Transportation’s presidential transition team. Prior to her departure, she was highly engaged with FMCSA’s automated commercial motor vehicle working group which was tasked with developing commercial AV safety policy. Hopkins also served as an attorney advisor at FMCSA and an attorney investigator for the Department of Transportation’s Office of Inspector General during her 9-year career at the Department of Transportation.

Hopkins has a Juris Doctor degree and a Master of Business Administration from American University in Washington, D.C. She also holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Clemson University.
