to drive than to fly, and how vital it is to
winterize, and why you should always do a pre-trip vehicle check – and
thanks to your industry’s consumer education campaign “Be
Car Care Aware,” the motoring public is learning the importance of these
things too. With AAA projecting one in four Americans taking a holiday
road trip this year, and an 1.6 percent increase over last year’s travel
numbers, our industry has even greater responsibility to ensure that these 84
million Americans get safely to their destination.
At this special time of year, I’m reminded of everything else
that our automotive aftermarket makes happen.
It’s our industry that makes sure that everyone gets safely to
seasonal festivities, family gatherings and places of worship for the holidays.
It’s our industry that enables us to go out and get that last-minute must-have
toy or gift, or help deliver meals, blankets or coats to those less fortunate
during this time of generosity and giving. It’s our industry that helps get
essentials to hospitals, schools, shelters and disaster recovery efforts all
over the world, all year long. And much more…
