While the dust has settled on yet another AAPEX in Las Vegas (my 40th
to be exact), the buzz about the show and events surrounding it has not diminished.
At the Auto Care Association, we are sensitive to this reality and acknowledge that many of our members and colleagues suffer from “event fatigue.”
Gary Shapiro, CEO of the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA)
sent me an article that he wrote recently and was published on Twice.com. As I
read it, I was once again reminded of just how damaging outboarding is to our
trade show – AAPEX – and to all trade shows and the
organizations that produce them.
I hesitated using the term “record-breaking” when talking about this year’s successful AAPEX. Has it lost its meaning? How relevant is it? Does anyone care? Is it overused?
Just got back from the AAPEX Exhibitor Summit.
What fun! If you haven’t been to that event, plan on it for next June. All you
need to do is get there -- the sponsors (AAIA, AASA, The Venetian/Sands Expo
Center, Freeman, etc.) work hard to cover nearly everything else, including
your hotel room.

I’ve been reading news reports from the Consumer Electronics Show
in Las Vegas and am just amazed at how much new technology is being
unveiled for vehicles this week.
