Auto parts, accessories and tire stores employment decreased by 0.1 percent from January to February 2018, losing 400 jobs over the month.

In February, employment in retail trade increased by 0.3 percent from January, representing a gain of 50,000 jobs over the month. 

While the auto parts, accessories and tire stores sector lost a few jobs in February, the 12 months employment trend has shown a positive trend. This sector employed 560,000 people in February 2018, compared to 555,200 in February 2017, representing a 0.9 percent gain in jobs.  This increase compares favorably with the overall retail trade industry which over the same period gained 35,000 jobs, representing a 0.2 percent increase.

Employment in the auto parts, accessories and tire stores changed little from December 2017 to January 2018, gaining 200 jobs.

In January, employment in retail trade increased by 0.1 percent from December, representing a gain of 15,400 jobs. 

While the auto parts, accessories and tire stores sector added a few jobs in January, the 12 months employment trend has shown a positive trend. This sector employed 561,000 people in January 2018, compared to 555,600 in January 2017, representing a 1.0 percent gain in jobs.  This slight increase compares favorably with the overall retail trade industry which over the same period lost 36,000 jobs, representing a 0.2 percent decrease.
