brand table

Brand Identification database is an important component of automotive data and communication standards. PIES uses auto care market brand codes to uniquely identify products and traded items. ACES refers to auto care market brand codes to identify the brands included in an electronic catalog data file. The Auto Care Association has developed a coded table of brands, brand owners and their parent company names. The brand table is accessed through a portal where users can query for specific values and download the complete current table. Petitions for new brands are made through the portal. The Brand Table information is also available through a web service that returns net change information.

The Brand Table is a hierarchy that includes parent company names, brand owners, brands and sub-brands. Unique four-character IDs are assigned to each record in the table.

The brand table is accessed through the Vehicle Information Portal (VIP). In VIP,  users can query for specific values and download the complete current table.  Requests for new brands are made through VIP.  Brand Table information is also available through a web service that returns net change information.
