BETHESDA, MD – November 9, 2016 – The Auto Care Association formalized its long-standing relationship with Asopartes, a Colombian trade association representing auto parts importers and distributors, on Oct. 31. Asopartes President Tulio Zuloaga and Auto Care Association President and CEO Bill Hanvey finalized discussions and signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) at the Automotive Aftermarket Products Expo (AAPEX) in Las Vegas, Nev.

Through the MOU, members from both associations will benefit from increased access to market research, education programs, trade promotion activities and technology initiatives. In July 2016, Asopartes, along with the U.S. Commercial Service Office of the U.S. Embassy in Bogota, co-organized an Auto Care Association-hosted technology standards conference in Bogota, Colombia.

“Asopartes has been a key partner in the Auto Care Association’s export promotion activities in developing and adopting our industry standards, ACES and PIES, in the Colombian market,” said Bill Hanvey, president and CEO, Auto Care Association. “We are thrilled to formalize our relationship and to have the opportunity to collaborate in identifying new business opportunities for our members in Latin American markets.”

The Auto Care Association will be hosting a trade mission to Colombia, June 7-8, 2017, as part of a federal award from the Department of Commerce. The trade mission coincides with Expopartes, the largest Colombian automotive parts fair, organized by Asopartes.
